Essential patients' duties

In order to develop a sense of responsibility and develop complex communication skills, such as a manager - subordinate relationship, therapeutic community also established certain clearly defined communal hierarchy, to be followed by every patient.

One of such developing responsibilities is a community host, who is responsible for quite a lot of tasks, such as keeping the daily schedule and maintaining certain behavioral rules. He must distribute daily tasks and monitor performance. At the bed time community host shall verify that all patients are in their beds, and in the morning he will ring the bell to have everyone up and ready for the day. These responsibilities are given for a one-week period to all patients in a row (except those in the first phase of rehabilitation). In this role patients learn to be responsible for ourselves and for others, also to cope with different situations requiring responsible decisions.

The most important responsibility in the community are the presidential duties. President may be a patient in the second or third phase of rehabilitation. The president is elected by a secret ballot in community meeting for two months. This is a very responsible position, since the President is entitled to terminate the contract with a frequently infringing  patient and recommend to remove him from the community. Also, in contentious situations President has the last word. In this position a drug addicted person learns to be responsible for many people, since his decisions directly affect the life of people undergoing treatment. Also, the president is responsible for the treasury of the community, consisting of the patients' donations. This money is used for the general purposes of community - birthday gifts and other celebrations, cultural events and so on. Some of this money goes to the kitchen master, used to diversify the community's daily menu. Being in the President's role patiens learn to handle money responsibly and  plan
appropriately how to spend it. President reports monthly on the use of money to the community.
